«Вшануй»: Nova Post and Reporters have created a stencil for a minute of silence

Nova Post, together with The Ukrainians Media team, has created a stencil for posters that will help people join the nationwide minute of silence at 9 a.m. It appeared in the latest issue of Reporters, a magazine of literary reportage and documentary photography.
«We noticed that Nova Post boxes are often used for posters at protests and realised that this is not just about reuse, but also about changing their function. This gives the box a voice. That is why, in collaboration with Nova Post, we decided to turn one of the pages in the latest issue of our magazine into a stencil,»
— says Olga Perehrest, head of special projects at The Ukrainians Media.
How to use the stencil
- 1Open any Nova Post box weighing 1 kg or more
- 2Remove the stencil from the magazine using the tear-off edge
- 3Place the stencil on the box and paint it
- 4Use it to support a minute of silence at 9 a.m. in different cities across Ukraine
Elena Umenko, Head of Social Projects, explains why this initiative is important for Nova Post:
«We believe that memory is an action without which the future is impossible. We live in a free country thanks to those who are no longer with us, and their memory must live on. Nova Post is always there when support is needed: in everyday matters, on long journeys, in moments of joy and silence. And when the minute of silence comes, we are there too.».
How to get the magazine
The theme of the latest issue of Reporters is ‘Landscapes.’ It contains 160 pages of reports, essays, photo stories, and documentary archives about Ukrainian landscapes and how they shape our characters.
The issue includes texts by Pavlo Stekh, Iya Kiva, Anastasia Levkova, Yuriy Prokhasko, Iryna Slavinska, Olena Livitska, Nazariy Zanoza, Danylo Bumatsenko and others, as well as a photo archive by documentary photographer Valery Miloserdov about the miners' protests of the 1990s and an art series by Dmytro Kupriyan, ‘Thirty-six views of Hoverla.’
It is already available to The Ukrainians Media community — over 3,000 people who support the publication's work. It will eventually be available for purchase in stores or on the website: theukrainians.org.
