Heads up, cyber-attack. Nova Post warns Ukrainians about a phishing attack involving the brand
This morning, cyber-criminals spread fake notifications among Ukrainians about alleged debts to Nova Post. These emails have nothing to do with the company and are phishing campaigns.
Having analyzed the phishing activity, Nova Post cyber-security highly recommends the following to all users who have attempted to open attachments in these emails:
- Install an anti-malware application (with an up-to-date database) and run a full scan of your device for malicious software.
- If malware is detected during the scan or if there is a suspicion of system damage, reinstall the operating system completely to eliminate potentially hidden threats.
These steps are essential to protect your data and prevent further risks.
The criminals exploit the credibility of well-known brands and manipulate sensitive information, in this case, claiming debt. The company's cyber-security department is already blocking the network of servers used to send these emails.
Please be reminded of the standard cyber-security rules:
- Check the sender's address. Original emails from Nova Post are sent from official domains only. Pay attention to suspicious changes in spelling.
- Do not open emails from unknown senders or click on links.
- In case you opened the email or attachment, immediately change your account passwords and check if you have any other active sessions. Should you find any suspicious activity, exit all unknown sessions in your account security settings.
- Enable two-factor authentication for your email to protect your account from unauthorized access.
- If you receive such an email, move it to spam and delete it. Doing so reduces the risk of repeat emails and protects other users.
Stay attentive and follow the recommendations.
