Every great story has a beginning, which always hinges on the courage of a few people.

On August 24, 1991, a special blue-and-yellow flag was brought into the Verkhovna Rada chamber. It was long and narrow—7 meters 34 centimeters. That was all the fabric the activists had managed to find in secret during the Soviet era. On that day, it became the main witness to the birth of an independent Ukraine.

Ten years later, another story began in Poltava. Nova Poshta got its start with the same bold dream and the same first decisive steps. Just as Ukrainians once sewed together that first flag of independence, Nova Poshta has been connecting Ukraine from west to east with the strong threads of its roads for 25 years now.

Today, these two stories came together.

The “Come Back Alive” Foundation and Ukraine WOW have reproduced 1,000 copies of that very first flag. And to ensure these flags reach their recipients, Nova Poshta has taken on the task of delivering them throughout Ukraine and abroad.

It is symbolic that today, the city where Nova Poshta began is receiving the restored flag that marked the beginning of independent Ukraine. Our Poltava team unfurled the flag as a symbol of our freedom, as a tribute to those who fought for it, and as a token of gratitude to everyone who defends it today.
