Nova Poshta will cover the customs duties for senders on packages shipped from Ukraine to the U.S.
The U.S. is changing the rules for calculating customs duties on international shipments. To help Ukrainians adapt to the new rules, Nova Poshta will cover the customs duties on shipments from Ukraine to the U.S. on behalf of senders until the end of summer.
The U.S. is continuing to reform its customs system for international shipments. Starting July 24, instead of a flat 10% duty rate, a customized rate will apply depending on the category of goods. As part of the reform, more information about the goods will also need to be provided during customs clearance:
- 10-digit UKTZED code;
- detailed description of the goods;
- country of origin of the goods.
Until September 1, 2026, Nova Poshta will cover the customs duties for all shipments from Ukraine to the United States. The customs duty waiver will apply to express waybills where the sender is listed as the payer of customs duties. During this period, customers will pay only the shipping cost.
If the payer is the recipient, customs duties will be assessed in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirements, and the cost of customs brokerage services will also need to be paid.
In addition, starting September 1, 2026, Nova Poshta will increase the maximum allowable declared value of a shipment from 800 USD to 2,500 USD, and customs duties will be calculated on a case-by-case basis, depending on the category of goods, country of origin, and value.
